I don't think that this is what he asked. But generally speaking, it's better to just not get them that stressed in the first place.

The higher a hero's Virtue Chance, the more likely they are to pass that resolve check. An afflicted hero can easily ruin an otherwise good run for the entire party. As you can likely imagine, this is much, MUCH less good. If they don't pass the check, then they get an affliction instead. If they pass the resolve check, they get a massive 'virtue' buff, massively reducing their stress while also giving many other benefits to themselves and the party over the course of the run.
